UCS Lab Activity details

The UCS Lab events offer a dynamic platform for students and professionals to delve into the latest advancements in technology, particularly focusing on artificial intelligence and machine learning. Our events are designed to provide a collaborative and engaging environment where participants can learn, share, and grow together.

Frequency: Every two weeks
Duration: 1-2 hours per session
Location: On-campus classrooms or online meetings (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams)

  • Preparation Phase (One week before the event):
    • Announce the upcoming technical discussion in the UCS group.
    • Nominate topics.
    • Confirm the speaker (mentor) for the discussion.
    • Ensure all necessary technical preparations (projector, internet connection, online meeting links, etc.) are in place.
    • Interested members can submit their solutions or thoughts on the topic to the UCS email: uowcomputingsociety@gmail.com
      Subject: UCS Lab Event Topic
      Include your name and member/student ID.
  • On the Day of the Event:
    • Welcome and Introduction (10 minutes):
      • A brief introduction by the host.
      • Overview of the meeting agenda and selected topic.
    • Technical Topic Presentation (45 minutes):
      • The speaker presents and demonstrates the selected topic.
        Example topics: Latest technology trends, programming tips, project experiences, open-source project introductions, etc.
    • Open Discussion Session (30 minutes):
      • Q&A session where attendees can ask questions and share their thoughts.
      • Encourage members to discuss their projects or technical challenges and seek group advice.
    • Topic Nomination and Voting (10 minutes):
      • Gather suggestions for future discussion topics.
  • Post-Event:
    • Document key points, discussion highlights, and conclusions from the meeting.
    • Collect feedback from attendees to improve future discussions.
